webMethods Extends Partnership With Tata Consultancy Services to Offer Users Outsourced Maintenance for webMethods Fabric

Joint Offering Leverages Both Company's Resources to Provide Enterprises With a Fixed-Fee, Turnkey Alternative to Maintaining Systems In-House

ATLANTA, Nov. 14 - Integration World 2005 -- webMethods, Inc. (NASDAQ:WEBM), a leading business integration and optimization software company, and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading global IT services provider, today jointly introduced a turnkey, fixed-fee and SLA-backed service for outsourcing the production support and maintenance requirements associated with maintaining an enterprise's webMethods Fabric(TM) implementation. By minimizing or eliminating these operational requirements, enterprises can lower their total cost of ownership while improving the performance and predictability that these systems deliver. The announcement was made at webMethods' annual user conference, Integration World, where TCS is serving as a premier-level, Platinum sponsor of the event.

"Having worked closely with webMethods for a number of years to ensure the success of every one of our customer's webMethods implementations, we're delighted by the opportunity to extend this partnership to the continuing support of these critical resources," said Dr. Santosh Mohanty, global head of TCS' Business Intelligence, Knowledge Management and Enterprise Application Integration practice. "By making best use of the specialized resources of each company, we can provide enterprises with a fully integrated offering that is unmatched in the expertise, responsiveness and value that it delivers."

Leveraging state-of-the-art operations centers, TCS and webMethods will continuously monitor on a 24/7 basis the health and performance of a client's webMethods implementation. Using the best practices and proven methodologies of both companies, systematic requirements for maintaining these systems can be met in a more programmatic and efficient manner with additional resources readily available to address any contingency.

This new offering helps enterprises reduce the specialized resources typically maintained to support ad-hoc requirements as well as the additional resources often required to continually monitor system performance, both of which represent a significant cost to the enterprise. With a dedicated team committed to proactively maintaining system performance, enterprises also benefit from improved reliability and predictability, and can take advantage of both companies' unique resources to further improve and enhance performance.

"One of the biggest challenges confronting most organizations is the cost associated with maintaining their IT operating environments," said Richard Chiarello, COO, webMethods, Inc. "As a result, resources and funds that could be used to enhance the business are often delegated to routine maintenance despite the fact that these requirements could often be met more efficiently using alternative approaches. By partnering with TCS, we're able to offer customers the benefit of their extensive experience in IT outsourcing as well as the economies of scale that they can uniquely offer due to their global reach. By blending these resources with our own, we can seamlessly address the continuing maintenance and other operational support requirements of our client's webMethods Fabric environment with in-house IT teams freed to address additional line-of-business needs as a result."

The new offering builds upon the two companies' existing strategic alliance for implementation and consulting services for webMethods Fabric. In doing so, it takes full advantage of the unmatched resources of both companies, which include the unique expertise of webMethods' professional services organization along with the additional resources of TCS, including the significant real-world best practices and operational insight that the company has secured through numerous webMethods implementations as well as its position as one of the world's leading providers of IT outsourcing services.
