webMethods Certifies and Enables Key Partners for SOA Governance with New Program

WASHINGTON, Nov. 8 -- Integration World 2006 -- webMethods, Inc. (NASDAQ:WEBM), a leading business integration and optimization software company, today launched a new SOA governance certification and enablement program for its systems integration (SIs) partners. The webMethods SOA Governance Ready program identifies and supports specific partners that have made an additional commitment to SOA governance through specialized training of consultants, adoption of methodologies for SOA governance, and additional investments in the creation of complementary best practices. Charter members include BearingPoint, LiquidHub, Perficient, and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The webMethods SOA Governance Ready program builds upon webMethods' recently announced products for SOA governance -- webMethods Infravio X- Registry and webMethods Infravio X-Broker [see separate announcement: webMethods Brings SOA Governance to the Mainstream, (November 7, 2006)].

By leveraging webMethods' industry-leading products to deploy their unique best practices and methodologies for SOA governance, leading SIs can help Global 2000 enterprises accelerate time-to-benefit for their SOA investments through the broader and more rapid reuse of services. More specifically, webMethods' SOA governance solution offers a flexible and scalable framework for the assembly and packaging of each partner's domain-specific metadata and industry-specific policies for reuse across multiple implementations. Furthermore, it facilitates closer collaboration with all process actors -- business analysts, enterprise architects and developers -- for the streamlined development of new applications and processes. webMethods is supporting the program with exclusive partner training, enhanced access to development resources and promotional packaging, and additional consulting resources for creating customized policies and contracts as a key component of each partner's SOA governance offering.

"The biggest inhibitors for many organizations' SOA adoption are their lack of governance as well as their need to demonstrate a positive return-on- investment," said Lance Hill, vice president and General Manager, SOA Solutions, webMethods, Inc. "The webMethods SOA Governance Ready program addresses these concerns by accelerating partner proficiency on our new solution. As a result, they can more quickly implement lifecycle governance at the enterprise-level while more readily demonstrating the value that these implementations produce. The importance of this issue is underscored by the premier level of partners -- BearingPoint, LiquidHub, Perficient, and TCS -- that have committed to the program in advance of its launch."

BearingPoint provides strategic consulting, application services, technology solutions and managed services to Global 2000 companies and government organizations. They help customers achieve results by identifying mission critical issues and implementing innovative and customized solutions designed to generate revenue, reduce costs and access the right information at the right time. According to a recent technology analyst research report, BearingPoint's SOA offering scored higher than any other organization's services.

"Over the past year, we have developed an SOA roadmap foundation framework and the methodologies to enable companies to accelerate delivery with flexible tools and templates," said Gregory Reh, Managing Director, BearingPoint. "Now, working with webMethods and the webMethods governance platform, we have a complete suite of products that support our methodologies and framework. We will be able to increase the value that we bring to our customers and to help them align their IT systems with their business initiatives."

This is something that we've embraced as a more efficient means in which to deliver our proven domain experience and best practices," said Jonathan Brassington, Partner and CEO, LiquidHub. "Effective governance is essential to this strategy as it supports solution design and application delivery, while ensuring the long- term viability of these solutions. By taking advantage of the webMethods platform to capture and standardize our approach, we can increase the speed and effectiveness of our customer-facing engagements."
