Victaulic Breaks Ground on New Manufacturing Facility in Chihuahua

The new ductile iron foundry, the first Victaulic location in Mexico and slated to be the company's largest facility in the world, will create 1,000 local jobs

CHIHUAHUA, MEXICO (September 2, 2009) - Local dignitaries, government officials, community members and Victaulic company representatives assembled on Wednesday, Sept. 2 in Chihuahua to break ground on Victaulic's first facility in Mexico. It will be the largest Victaulic facility in the world upon its completion. Local dignitaries attending the event included Chihuahua Governor Jose Reyesbaza and Secretary Mrs. Martha Lara, as well as Victaulic Executive Vice President Clark Hale.

"We are pleased to celebrate this milestone in Victaulic history, and are eager to work with the government and community here to bring this facility to completion," said Hale. "This facility is beneficial not only for the Chihuahua economy and community, but is also a foundation for Victaulic's growth in Mexico and Latin and South America. For us, this means we can be even better at meeting the global demands of our customers."

Victaulic is the world's leading manufacturer of mechanical pipe joining systems and the originator of the grooved mechanical joint more than 80 years ago. The facility in Chihuahua will support the local economy, employing up to 1,000 people over the next five years. The 500,000 square-foot facility on 30 acres of land will include a ductile iron foundry, machining, rubber manufacturing and assembly capabilities as well as local corporate offices. The location in Chihuahua will allow Victaulic to more efficiently manufacture and deliver couplings, fittings and valves to their customers.

Hale said Victaulic has enjoyed working with Chihuahua's local development office and looks forward to a long relationship with the community. "We aim to be good neighbors at Victaulic, and the well-developed infrastructure of Chihuahua and ease of working with the local representatives here has made us even more excited about being engaged in the community."

The new facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2010.
