Vanguard to Provide RACF Training Courses This Fall That Increase Mainframe Security Skills to Protect Critical IT Infrastructure
Classes on RACF Administration, Advanced Facilities Help Security Administrators Secure Mainframe Data, Applications
LAS VEGAS, Sept. 20 -- Vanguard Integrity Professionals, the leading provider of enterprise security software and training for mainframes, today announced its RACF® Training Schedule for fall 2010. Some of the classes the company is offering include Basic RACF Administration and Advanced RACF Facilities training. Attendees of all Vanguard training classes will earn Continuing Professional Education credits. Those who attend 5-day classes, which include eight hours of lab work, will earn 36 CPE credits.
As Gartner discussed in a research note published earlier this year, "the incidence of high-risk vulnerabilities is astonishingly high...," which makes the need for mainframe security training more important than ever (Gartner Research Note G00172909). Gartner went on to point out that: "A real shortage of mature mainframe security skills makes configuration and administration errors more likely [on the mainframe] than on other enterprise server operating systems in the same enterprise," and recommended that enterprises that rely on mainframes "... invest in mainframe-specific technical security skills."
Among the RACF training courses Vanguard is offering this fall are the following:
o Developing Effective Basic RACF Administration Skills - This class is
for individuals responsible for implementing, administering and
supporting RACF. Attendees learn techniques and best practices and
become proficient in RACF administration in less than a week. Classes
will be held in Las Vegas September 27 to October 1, November 1-5 and
December 13-17, and in Washington D.C. November 29 to December 3.
o Advanced RACF Facilities - Designed for security administrators,
security analysts, systems programmers and auditors with RACF experience
who want to expand their working knowledge. Attendees learn how to
administer RACF for CICS® security, use RACF Security for DB2®,
implement UNIX® System Services security by defining the OMVS segment,
and define appropriate RACF profiles. No prior knowledge of or
experience with CICS, DB2 UNIX System Services, or digital certificates
is required. This class will be held in Las Vegas October 18-22 and
November 16-20.
