Updated Grundfos MTR Immersible Pump Range Features More Pump Sizes and New Technology

Grundfos has completed a major overhaul of its MTR immersible pump program, widening the range and introducing new technologies and features. The company believes the updated pump range puts it in an excellent position to serve industry stakeholders in the future.

Product manager Kent Kynde is enthusiastic about the changes. "We wanted immersible
pump users to benefit from the expertise collected by Grundfos over the years. We took the existing MTR range and put our best innovative technologies into them. We also added new pump sizes and models to make it even easier for users to find the pump they need."

Patented technology, new benefits
New elements of the revamped MTR range have been tried and tested in the best-selling Grundfos CR range of multistage centrifugal pumps. Kynde adds, "We are very pleased that the MTR range now includes features like laser-welded impellers and our special cartridge seal. We have seen how these elements give CR pump users real benefits, so now in effect we are combining innovation and well-documented results."

Kynde points to the patented cartridge shaft seal used in some of the immersible pumps as an example. "It's a well-known fact that short-lived seals and troublesome seal replacement can be major problems for pump owners," he says. "So we took the seal components and put them into a single cartridge unit. That way you avoid many of the most common causes of seal failure in other pumps. With a cartridge type seal, components can't be assembled incorrectly. The spring can't be incorrectly preloaded,
and you won't get greasy fingers or dirt on sensitive surfaces. This type of seal can be replaced in minutes. You don't have to dismantle the pump first. You just take out the old cartridge and pop in a new one."

MTR's high pump efficiency means low cost of ownership
Grundfos takes pride in the great amount of attention the company pays to pump efficiency, Kynde says. "Our pumps are built to last. That is why we focus on the total cost of owning a Grundfos pump. We want to make sure that immersible pump users benefit from the lowest operating costs possible. As one way of doing this, our hydraulics engineers have developed high-precision technology, including laser welding, to boost efficiency. Higher efficiency makes Grundfos pumps the least expensive in the long run.

Customers can design their own pumps
Grundfos has developed a unique, mix-and-match approach to pump customization. This versatility has now been introduced to the MTR range. "Most industries can easily find the right pump for them among our pre-defined range," Kynde says. "But some require special characteristics, and that's where our customization options come in. Basically you can pick and choose between a range of materials, designs, and features to create the pump that is exactly right for the job at hand. Our experts are always ready to help you choose the best possible combination."
