Uhlmann Packaging Systems Expands Tool Shop Capabilities with New Deckel Maho 80U Machining Center

TOWACO, NJ - Adding more than $3 million in capital machinery investments in just the last few years, Uhlmann Packaging Systems continues to expand its Tool Shop capabilities to offer its customers unmatched service and value in providing tooling, upgrades, and rebuilds for Uhlmann blister machines, cartoners, and feeders.

As a result, the company can now deliver precision, OEM-crafted and tested tooling within 7 weeks, the shortest lead time in the industry. Cut down by more than 50% from a short five years ago, this delivery time is projected to be cut by yet another 20% in the next 12 months.

"With a total of three Deckel Maho machining centers, Uhlmann's Tool Shop features the most advanced equipment in the world," said Hubert Keil, Uhlmann Managing Director and CEO. "These machines are at the center of an aggressive and continuing modernization and improvement plan that allows Uhlmann to react as quickly as possible to customer needs and requests, helping them to keep pace with the increasing demands and challenges of the pharmaceutical market."

According to Mr. Keil, the equipment affords Uhlmann distinct manufacturing advantages that allow for tool manufacturing with short delivery times and accuracies down to 2/10,000 of an inch. He explained that the two Deckel DMC 80U machines and the Deckel DMC 60U feature such state-of-the-art technologies as:

o 5-axis machining for reduced production times and enhanced quality.
o A six-station programmable palette pool for automatic loading, unloading, and multiple tool manufacturing.
o A 180-tool in-machine storage system that allows for quick changeover with dedicated dimensions and pre-set specifications.
o Lights-out operation for extended, unmanned shift capabilities.

Designed to provide for the economical manufacturing of a wide range of parts produced in small or large batches, the Deckel Maho machines are readily adaptable to the increasingly complex and precision requirements for tools, and deliver above-average productivity levels.

In addition to the benefits Uhlmann delivers through its Tool Shop, other customer service offerings include a new, Tablet Lay-Down device developed in house, an ever-expanding $2 million inventory of spare and wear parts (the largest in the United States); and the newest Uhlmann B-1880 Blister Machine, the world's fastest, for on-site testing, operator training, and live demonstrations.

"By investing in smart machining and high-tech equipment, and by streamlining our overall processes, Uhlmann can continue to provide our customers in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico with superior products and service," said Mr. Keil.
"With a staff of long-term, experienced employees, leading-edge expertise in pharmaceutical and medical packaging equipment, and a dedication to consistent high quality, Uhlmann is able to help customers make informed, effective decisions and solve problems."

Uhlmann has its U.S. headquarters in Towaco, New Jersey.
