UEA Continues Expanding, Despite Poor Economy

Waverly, IA (November 2008)-Despite the poor economic conditions, United Equipment Accessories expanded during the fall and will continue expansion projects this spring.

UEA has seen the need to expand about every four years since 1957, just five years after making their mark in the industry. UEA started as a side job for Vern Iserman in the 1950's and after a few years employed two full-time employees. Today, UEA employs more than 80 full-time employees and more than 100 overall. In the last 6-months UEA has expanded 9,000 square feet and plans to expand even more in the coming year. With today's struggling economy it is hard to believe that UEA, Inc. is expanding again.

"We've been very lucky, the current markets we are working in haven't yet been affected by the economic hardships the economy is seeing," commented Mark Hanawalt, President of UEA.

The 9,000 square foot expansion area will house the assembly area for UEA's new wind turbine clients. The expansions in the next year will add more assembly area and expand office space.

"Good times offer opportunity but you can also find opportunity in bad times," said Hanawalt. "With the diversity of the markets we are involved in we have been lucky enough to find opportunity and are able to expand."
