FREMONT, Calif., Jan. 18-- Twinhead Corporation, a world leader in notebook computers, today announced that it has begun offering its built tough, built to last DURABOOK 5RI and N14RA rugged notebook PCs to computer retailers and value added resellers Troughout Canada. The two highly engineered laptops fill the fast-growing demand among professionals, students, and other active, mobile individuals for durable notebooks that can withstand the knocks, shocks, drops and spills of real life events.

The first two DURABOOK notebook computers available to Canadian consumers are the 14RA, featuring an AMD Turion(TM) 64-bit CPU, and the N15RI, offering a choice of Intel(R) Centrino(R) mobile technology or Celeron(R) processor.

Twinhead DURABOOK PCs are protected in a magnesium alloy case that is 20 times stronger than ordinary, ABS plastic notebook casing. They also feature spill-resistant keyboards, exclusive optical disk tray locks, anti- shock LCD screens and hard drives, all capable of meeting U.S. military 810F standards for ruggedization.

Latest Processors

Priced competitively with non-rugged commercial notebook computers, both the DURABOOK N14RA and N15RI offer all of the power, reliability, speed and toughness needed for a weekend camping trip or a grueling two-week business excursion. The 6-pound N14RA, sporting a 14.1-inch TFT LCD screen with XGA 1024 x 768 resolution, is the first rugged notebook to feature AMD's Turion(TM) CPU-the latest 64-bit AMD processor designed specifically for notebook computing. Turion is the most advanced simultaneous 32- and 64-bit Windows-compatible mobile processor featuring longer battery life, enhanced security, and compliance with the latest wireless and graphics technologies.

Twinhead's N14RA also includes a rubber shock-mounted 40/60/80/100/120 GB hard drive, VIA Technologies K8N800A graphics processor, AGP 4X8X 2D/3D video accelerator, and a mini-PCI wireless LAN module with 802.11b/g capabilities.

The DURABOOK N15RI, combines integrated wireless LAN capability with unparalleled processing power and exceptional battery life. Featuring an Intel(R) Pentium(R) processor with 533MHz front side bus speed and Intel 915GM chipset (Celeron(R) M 400MHz CPU is also available), the N15RI includes Intel(R) Pro 802.11b/g LAN support for use in wireless hotspots and other WiFi-equipped networks as well as integrated 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet and 56K V.90 fax/modem connectivity.

In addition to its 15-inch TFT LCD screen, other features of the N15RI include a rubber shock-mounted 40/60/80/100/120 GB hard drive, Intel GMA900 graphics core with AGP 16X equivalent 2D/3D video accelerator and 128MB system shared memory, and Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Home Edition operating system.
