Thinstall Teams with BMC Software Adding Application Virtualization to Business Service Management

BMC to Incorporate Thinstall Application Virtualization into BSM for Easy Management of Virtual Application Deployments and Upgrades in Windows Vista Environments

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 18 / / -- Thinstall, a leading Application Virtualization Platform Solution, today announced a strategic relationship with BMC as a Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) member. The alliance enables BMC and its resellers to directly offer Thinstall to customers using the BMC Configuration Management solution.

Thinstall, together with BMC, will address the IT management challenge of frequent system upgrades and software deployments while maintaining the stability and integrity of host systems and a secure end-user desktop environment. Using a Business Service Management (BSM) approach, IT executives can meet the demand for fast, secure and conflict-free virtual application deployments, while supporting business services with consistent application delivery. The new partnership offers customers a greater range of deployment choices with increased flexibility and superior management of virtual applications in desktop environments.

"With Thinstall's client-less and server-less application virtualization solution now available through our TAP program, customers can manage virtual applications and system stability with the ease previously only possible with natively installed software," said Paul Avenant, vice president, Service Management Business Unit, BMC Software. "Adding application virtualization to our BSM portfolio provides organizations with a unified way to deliver applications to reduce downtime, errors, and migration impact saving customers time, money and resources in keeping user systems up-to-date in an increasingly virtual environment."

Thinstall complements BMC's offering to maximize desktop efficiency and performance, as well as minimize operational and administrative costs. By virtualizing applications, sending them to the desktop in a single EXE file, and allowing SxS applications to be deployed without conflict, Thinstall is providing a reliable and secure desktop infrastructure. BMC and Thinstall as a combined solution allows a data center to deploy and manage applications in a consolidated infrastructure across an enterprise, including remote workers, and still support business services with deployment and support for the application operations in .NET, Windows(R) and Vista environments.

"Virtualization on the client is perhaps two years behind, but it is going to be much bigger," said Gartner vice president and distinguished analyst, Thomas Bittman. "On the PC, it is about isolation and creating a managed environment that the user can't touch. This will help change the paradigm of desktop computer management in organizations. It will make the trend towards employee-owned notebooks more manageable, flexible and secure." 1 [Ed. Henrik Rosendahl CEO of Thinstall said, "This agreement with BMC is a major milestone in our strategy to establish a partner network with forward looking, industry leaders to add market strength to our momentum. The alliance helps us continue delivering the best solutions for application virtualization to the broadest customer base. We are committed to the success of our relationship with BMC and to the mutual benefit our combined solutions offer to BMC's customers."

BMC is recognized as the leader in Business Service Management providing solutions that span enterprise systems, applications, databases and service management. BMC solutions are used by more than 15,000 customers worldwide.
