Thermark Partners with Atomic Art to Introduce New Four-Color Laser Decorating Process

LOS ANGELES - (March 6, 2007)- Two of the industry's laser-marking innovators have forged a partnership to help address the marketplace's need for permanent, four-color laser decoration of hard surface materials.

TherMark Holdings, Inc., a leading developer of laser marking technology and materials, along with Atomic Art, LLC, an innovator in multi-color, laser decorating technology, have entered into a strategic alliance to create Permanent Impressions Inc., a distribution company focused on the laser decorating market, which will provide commercial, industrial and residential manufacturers specializing in custom decoration with a breakthrough, full-color process to permanently mark a wide variety of surfaces. Permanent Impressions will distribute the Atomic Art(TM) laser decorating technology licenses and supply the proprietary laser decorating inks developed in conjunction with TherMark. A facility with a gallery and showroom has been opened in Las Vegas to provide training for licensees in the use of this patent-pending technology.

Laser owners can now produce vibrant, permanent color images on such hard-to-mark surfaces as granite, marble, glass, ceramic, porcelain, travertine and engineered stone. CERAM Research, one of the United Kingdom's leading materials development, testing and analysis providers, has already conducted a series of tests to successfully determine the durability of this process technology on porcelain, ceramic and glass. Further studies on additional surfaces are in progress.

"For years, manufacturers have been asking how they can leverage their laser capabilities to permanently mark or decorate hard surfaces," said Joel Assaraf, TherMark's president and chief operating officer. "This partnership allows us to be a large part of a much-needed marketplace solution while expanding the range of use for TherMark's color palette of laser marking materials."

John Cooper, president of Permanent Impressions, added, "Functionality is the element that has been missing in color decorating these surfaces, and, now, the issue is resolved. Chemically and mechanically abrasion-resistant designs and images can be permanently bonded that will meet or exceed the expectations of architects, designers and other building professionals."

Utilizing today's most advanced laser bonding technology, Atomic Art has been successfully reproducing the look and feel of handcrafted art and photos on a variety of hard surfaces and now has multiple U.S. and foreign patent applications pending for the process technology.

"The time has come to leave the grayscale laser engraving world behind and imagine the possibilities in real color," said Thom Price, co-founder of Atomic Art. "We can now provide a reliable laser decorating solution to help manufacturers that specialize in custom decoration achieve the excellence, quality and durability they've been missing."

Atomic Art licenses and the laser decoration inks are now available exclusively through Permanent Impressions and training classes are being scheduled in the new Las Vegas facility. About Atomic Art, LLC

Atomic Art, LLC was founded in 2005 by Thom and Terry Price, two commercial artists working together in Las Vegas. They had used the standard TherMark(TM) laser marking materials in their work and began to experiment with the color materials to develop their own proprietary formulations which would enable them to better utilize the color management software and produce full color images on glass, ceramic, porcelain and stone. Thom Price has likened this new laser decoration technology to color televisions; once people had seen it they simply had little interest in black & white any longer. Traditional grayscale laser engraving will always have its place just as black & white photography endures today, but color has become more and more popular due to the demand for full color, custom images in the decoration of household products such as kitchen counters and backsplashes; shower doors and enclosures; stone and tile wall surfaces and flooring; and windows of all types. There are unlimited uses for durable and vibrant color images and decoration in commercial and residential buildings, murals, awards, memorials, monuments, giftware, and fine art applications.
