The Babcock & Wilcox Company's Environmental Group to Assume Responsibility for U.S. Joy Western Precipitation and Niro Atomizer Aftermarket Business

BARBERTON, Ohio, September 12, 2006 -- The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) today announced it has transferred management of certain environmental product lines from the Allen-Sherman-Hoff (A-S-H) Division of its Diamond Power International, Inc. subsidiary, to B&W's Environmental Aftermarket Services group.

The transfer involves the Joy Western Precipitation and Niro Atomizer parts and upgrades business in the United States, formerly managed by A-S-H. This business provides customers with replacement parts and upgrades for Niro dry flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems and atomizers, Joy Western electrostatic precipitators, baghouses, Multiclone® collectors, Tubulaire® and Microdyne® gas scrubbers, and tipping or rotary dust valves. Diamond Canapower will continue to provide and service these products for customers in Canada.

"This change in operations will essentially be transparent to our customers, and has been made to centralize services and more comprehensively respond to customer needs for B&W's environmental products," said Brandon C. Bethards, senior vice president and general manager, B&W's Fossil Power Division.

B&W's suite of environmental products includes wet and dry FGD systems, wet and dry precipitators, baghouses, selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems, and sorbent injection systems for mercury and SO3 control.
