TeleTracking Clients Learn Impact of 'Real Time Management'

Annual client conference begins today

NAPLES, Fla., Oct. 25 -- "Real-Time Management" as a powerful business tool for hospitals was to be the highlight of TeleTracking Technologies' (www.teletracking.com) annual client conference, which started here today.

The five-hospital Methodist Healthcare System, of San Antonio, TX, was showcased for the innovative ways it uses TeleTracking's real-time patient flow data to improve patient safety and revenue generation.

"Methodist Healthcare is placing a 'moving picture' of their entire operation on the desks of every executive via our enhanced Patient Flow Dashboard," said TeleTracking CEO Anthony Sanzo, "so that at any point in the day, at any facility, they can intervene to keep things running efficiently."

TeleTracking developed the more robust Dashboard with Methodist Healthcare to further the system's real-time management initiative, part of its overall focus on improving patient throughput. Dashboard graphics update every five minutes to show viewers such metrics as which nursing units are complying with 11 a.m. discharge goals, which are accepting patients within a 90-minute window and whether staff resources are matching volume requirements. The new Dashboard is scheduled for general release in 2011.

Methodist Healthcare, which currently provides daily reports to 35 director-level decision makers, already has experienced dramatic time savings in the throughput process, a sharp increase in incoming patient transfers, and a significant rise in overall admissions.

Since the implementation of TeleTracking's suite of solutions, time required to assign a bed dropped 78%, request-to-occupied time was down 52%, bed turn time was down 27%, "lost bed time" dropped from 76 minutes to 33 minutes, and ED diversion time fell from 600 hours a month to just eight hours. Meanwhile, patient transfers from other facilities increased 65% and revenues increased 7.9%.

Also scheduled to share success stories of process improvement were Greater Baltimore Medical Center Greenville Medical Center, and Penn State's Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. In addition, clients could take part in a "hands-on" demonstration lab for TeleTracking's RadarFind Asset Tracking Sensor Network.
