As a further demonstration of its commitment to better serve the American machining market at all levels and with more diversity, DMG America proudly announces the grand opening of its TECHNOLOGY CENTER AMERICA in Itasca, Illinois, just outside Chicago. This event will occur on April 15-18 with 15 machines in operation, including three new machine designs, plus ongoing technical workshops, food and entertainment. A SPECIAL RAFFLE WILL BE CONDUCTED AT THE EVENT AND THE WINNER WILL RECEIVE AN ATV. All are welcomed and registration is open now at www.dmgamerica.com.

At this event, the full range of DMG milling, turning and advanced machining technologies, including ultrasonics, plus virtual machine, tool presetters and related devices for enhanced manufacturing will be on display. Highlights of the equipment include the following new machines, being shown for the first time ever in America:

-DMC 55 H duoBLOCK®, a newly designed horizontal machining center, designed for high-production, high-accuracy CNC milling, well suited for the aerospace, medical and advanced mold & die market segments and adaptable to all materials.

-DMU 40 monoBLOCK®, a new design with compact footprint and versatile five-axis simultaneous milling, for machining smaller workpieces with high-accuracy requirements in medical, aerospace and other demanding market applications.

-CTX beta 800, a newly designed universal lathe for larger workpieces up to 16.1" plus precision turning, absolute measuring system (not reference point), plus Y-axis and counter spindle.

The ECO line of machines from DMG, also being showcased to the American market at this event, represents the company's commitment to bring its high-quality, high-reliability equipment to the job shop, in a diverse offering of machine tools that are all competitively priced yet fully featured and backed by the application engineering, service and support for which DMG is known worldwide.

Other machines running at this event, in the new 11,500 sq. ft. DMG showroom, will include:

-HSC 75 linear, high-speed (up to 42,000 rpm) vertical machining center with superior resolution and maximum performance in three- or five-axis simultaneous milling

-DMU 70, universal milling machine with 3 + 2 axes for heavy workpieces

-DMU 80 monoBLOCK®, a universal milling machine with 150º B-axis for advanced moldmaking

-DMU 50 eVo linear, a three- or five-axis CNC universal milling machine for superior high-speed cutting on mold and die work

-DMC 160 U duoBLOCK®, five-axis universal CNC machining center for fully automatic manufacturing of large and complex workpieces

-ULTRASONIC 20 linear, for HSC milling and ultrasonic hard machining of advanced substrates such as glass, ceramic and the newest semiconductor/optics materials

-CTX 410 V4, a universal CNC lathe for complete machining with driven tools in all stations, plus Y-axis for off-center milling and drilling applications

During the event, selected suppliers to DMG such as Kennametal, Heidenhain, Siemens, Open Mind and others will also display their products and services, making this event a working machine tool show.

Attendees will be able to participate in one-hour workshops, to be held each day, covering such topics as high-speed cutting (HSC) for the mold & die work industry, aerospace machining, medical machining, production machining and advanced manufacturing technologies for a variety of materials. Special emphasis will be given to these key target market segments on the days indicated: April 15-Aerospace, April 16-Medical, April 17-HSC and April 18-Production Machining. Guest speakers will be on hand to discuss these areas in detail, each day.

As DMG marketing manager, Daniel Wenker, explains, "This event is designed to not only offer machine shop personnel a look at our new facility and enjoy a good time, it is also serving to demonstrate the commitment we're making to the American market, with new machines, new services and a much larger application engineering and support team." The new DMG America facility will employ more than 120 sales, service and support personnel, during 2008, according to Wenker.

Also on hand for this event will be Rüdiger Kapitza, chairman of the Gildemeister Group, Thorsten Schmidt, DMG executive board member responsible for sales and service, as well as Christian Lang, aerospace authority and managing director for Deckel Maho, a member of the Gildemeister family of machine tool companies in Germany.

The event will run from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M every day, April 15-18, at DMG America, 265 Spring Lake Drive, Itasca, IL, located just west of O'Hare Airport in Chicago.
