Tarleton State University Chooses SMART Products Across All Subject Areas

Texas university notes product durability a key factor for continued loyalty to SMART

Calgary, Alberta --- June 7, 2006 --- SMART Technologies Inc. announces that Tarleton State University (TSU), in Stephenville, Texas, will be using SMART Board(TM) interactive whiteboards and Sympodium® interactive pen displays in all subject areas. The installation of SMART products is a university-wide initiative designed to enhance the learning experience for students through the effective use of technology. University administrators noted that SMART products offer students a greater learning experience because the technology is easy to use. The administrators attribute their loyalty to SMART to the robust design and excellent functionality of the company's products.

TSU has been using SMART products for over five years. The university has first-generation Sympodium interactive pen displays and early generation SMART Board interactive whiteboards that are still used in classrooms today. Free Notebook software upgrades have kept these older units up to date and as functional as units the university has recently installed. Administrators also noted that the support provided to educators through SMART's website and training programs allows professors and lecturers to make the most of the product functions to enhance presentations in any subject.

"You can incorporate SMART products into any subject area - from math to science to languages - the sky's the limit," says Karl Easterling, TSU education technology specialist. "The durability has been a key feature as well. With so many people using the SMART Board interactive whiteboards, they undergo some severe punishment, and they still work perfectly."

"Tarleton State University has been a pioneer in offering students the benefit of learning with the latest technology and feels this is a key component in preparing them for the work world beyond university," says Nancy Knowlton, SMART's president and co-CEO. "We have always prided ourselves on designing and manufacturing durable products, and it is testimony to this durability that schools can still use early generation products with the latest SMART software."
