Tandberg and Chi Corporation Expand Marketing Agreement to Include LTO Format Drives and Tape Automation Product Lines

POWAY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 20, 2005--Tandberg Data Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tandberg Data ASA (OSE:TAD), and Chi Corporation, a leading specialist in storage networking solutions, today expanded their business agreement in order to strengthen their respective market positioning and further leverage their expertise within key vertical markets.

The agreement reinforces Tandberg's commitment to the channel community and broadens its product coverage in North America. It supports the company's overall global distribution strategy and builds on the existing SLR and NAS storage lines sold by the Cleveland, Ohio-based storage systems integrator.

"Tandberg's versatility at delivering complementary storage, backup and archiving product lines make them an ideal choice for the diversity of requests we see in today's environments," said Greg Knieriemen, vice president of Chi. "Their products' strengths are well tuned to the realities of the marketplace and our expanded agreement will have a positive and profitable effect on our company."

"Extending our relationship with Chi allows us to deliver the Tandberg line of LTO storage solutions and NAS appliances to a significantly expanded customer base with a partner who has a demonstrated record of innovation in integrating storage solutions with a best-of-breed service and support operation," explained Ken Cruden, Tandberg Data COO.

Tandberg Tape Drives and Automation

Tandberg's LTO-based tape drive solutions include the most compact and fastest LTO-2 half-height drive in the industry -- the 420LTO. Along with the 420LTO Tandberg offers both LTO2 and LTO3 based full-height tape drives. As a design and manufacturing licensee in the LTO consortium, Tandberg assures customers that the data they protect and store on today's technology can be read on future generations of LTO drives with Tandberg's LTO roadmap supporting five generations of low-cost half-height LTO drive technology. Its comprehensive line of tape-based automation products includes autoloaders based on LTO2, LTO3 and SLR(TM) technologies. The Tandberg StorageLoader(TM) 1U autoloaders provide the highest data density in the industry: up to 3.2TB with LTO2 in a 1U form factor.

Tandberg Network Attached Storage

Tandberg Data's SATA-based InteliNAS appliances, based on both Linux and Microsoft(TM) Windows(TM) 2003 Storage Server, offer proven superior storage benefits for heterogeneous environments. Tandberg Data is in a unique position in that it manufactures and supports primary NAS disk storage as well as the tape storage and software that may be purchased with the system. Tandberg Data just recently introduced InteliStor(TM) integrating InteliNAS, the Tandberg StorageLoader LTO2 (or 420LTO) and Symantec Backup Exec(TM) Quick Start software for an easy-to-use network backup appliance. InteliStor delivers an affordable, intelligent and proactive turnkey data protection solution.
