Synchronica Receives Expansion Order from Middle Eastern Mobile Operator

Royal Tunbridge Wells, January 17, 2011. - Synchronica plc (AIM: SYNC, TSX-V: SYN), the international provider of next-generation mobile messaging services, has received a USD 107,000 expansion order for additional Mobile Gateway user licenses from the Middle Eastern subsidiary of a tier one multinational mobile operator group. The operator has also renewed the 24/7 support contract with Synchronica for a further twelve months.

Using Mobile Gateway to launch a mass market push email service in early 2010, the operator charges a monthly subscription of USD 0.25 for unlimited access to the service. This expansion order allows the operator to accommodate a greater quantity of subscribers onto the service.

Highest Online Growth Rate Worldwide

At around 13 percent by 2014, Forrester Research expects the Middle East and Africa region to record the highest rate of online growth worldwide. Cisco supports Forrester's forecast which predicts the region will have a compound annual growth rate of 133 percent in mobile data traffic.

Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Synchronica, says: "We're pleased to receive this expansion order as it validates the success of the operator's push email service and shows the mass market appeal of Mobile Gateway."

"Synchronica continues to focus on engaging with mobile operators in emerging markets as they increasingly search for ways to position themselves as the preferred route to the internet. Mobile Gateway is a key component to turn their vision into reality, enabling subscribers to connect to their favorite internet communities, regardless of the type of mobile phone they own", Brinkschulte adds.
