Surge in Archiving Installations Drives Storage Management Vendor to Invest in Lead Generation to Support Its Channel

Woburn, MA., January 30, 2008 - Analyst forecasts¹ of an expansion in archiving demand combined with its own experience of a rapid growth in the number of archiving installations in the last 18 months is driving BridgeHead Software to invest heavily in expanding its channel, with a key focus on generating leads for resellers.

The storage management and archiving software specialist is convinced the data archiving market is set to take off so is setting the building blocks for this expansion with a number of key technology and channel distribution relationships to be announced in the coming months, It has created a new inside sales team dedicated to delivering leads for its channel community and is also rolling out a range of demand generation and marketing campaigns to identify potential archiving customers for resellers.

Ryan Witt, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing for BridgeHead Software, said: "The fact that we're closing more archiving orders, combined with expert predictions from industry analysts such as IDC - which is expecting a doubling of the global archiving market to $2.34 billion between 2007 and 2011¹ - makes us believe this is the right time to capitalize on the market opportunity. Our aim is to recruit new resellers and ramp-up support for our current channel and we believe the best way is to give them leads we can jointly harvest. Very few vendors of our size are investing in sales teams to generate channel leads, and hopefully it'll be taken as a clear sign of our commitment to resellers and how seriously we're taking this market."

Further evidence of the growing interest in archiving comes from BridgeHead Software's own ILM Audit 2007 Survey² in which 472 North America and UK IT executives list file, email, and database archiving as three of their top five data storage concerns for the year.

Witt is also points out that BridgeHead Software's Enterprise Data Archiving (EDA) software offers resellers a high margin opportunity, which is further enhanced because of the hardware and value added services that are generally sold in conjunction with archiving software.

EDA is an enterprise class solution that replaces departmental archiving and products dedicated to specific data types with a single, all-in-one, enterprise archiving platform, bringing together all archiving activities regardless of data type, storage media or physical storage location.

¹ IDC Worldwide Archive and Hierarchical Storage and Management Software 2007-2011 Forecast: Retention, Preservation, Optimization and Re-use. Revenue for the worldwide archive and HSM software market was predicted to be $1,027m and forecast to grow to $2.34 billion by 2011.

²These findings are part of a broader survey entitled The ILM Audit, conducted by eMedia on behalf of BridgeHead Software during August 2007. 324 senior level executives, IT managers, system and network administrators and engineers from North America and 148 from the United Kingdom completed the survey.

About Enterprise Data Archiving (EDA)

Data Archiving has emerged as the single most efficient solution to the problem of out-of-control data growth. As a result, rather than deploying archiving technology piecemeal for individual applications outside IT, organizations will come to rely on IT to deploy data archiving at the enterprise level as a core enterprise technology and service. [BridgeHead] Enterprise Data Archiving (EDA) is a powerful technology that allows organizations to realize the full potential of centrally managing and creating universal access to data. It goes beyond the traditional storage optimization and compliance benefits of email archiving and data migration tools. EDA's benefits extend to the entire business:

o Greatly reducing the cost of owning data and managing storage

o Making all data assets accessible to users and business groups throughout the enterprise

o Putting IT back in control of data management and empowering IT to deliver reliable data access to the rest of the organization as a service.
