Sterigenics International to Expand Petit Rechain Facility

LEUVEN, BELGIUM, October 29, 2009: The Board of Directors of Sterigenics International, the world's leading provider of contract sterilisation services for the medical device industry, has approved further expansion of the Petit Rechain, Belgium facility.

This expansion is to deal with the increased customer demand noticed in the last 18 months and is seen as the next step in the company's long term strategy to create a network of equivalent sterilizers. It provides incremental capacity as well as providing our European customer base with a true back-up capability.

The extension will add 40% of additional capacity and will include two more state-of-the-art sterilisers that can hold up to 32 Euro pallets. Construction is scheduled to begin in the 4th Quarter of 2009, with completion expected in September 2010.

"As the global market share, technology, and know-how leader, we see that there is a need for ETO capacity, and our strategy is to provide that capacity aligned with the major European distribution networks of the medical device industry" says Dirk Beelen, Vice President Sales and Marketing Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. "The new plant will immediately be equipped to offer parametric release to address the speed to market requirement. Once complete, the expansion will make Petit Rechain the largest contract sterilisation ETO facility in the world."
