Stanley Proto Expands its Spanner Offer

Major product line expansion introduces three new designs, and also adds sizes and finishes to existing lines.

Conyers, GA, March 11 2007 - Stanley Proto announces a major expansion to its line of spanner wrenches, including the addition of two spanner types that are entirely new to Proto. It also includes new additions to complement the company's existing spanner line. All told, the company is introducing 23 new products.

Spanner wrenches are specialized tools that workers use to engage and turn large cylindrical assemblies. Most of these wrenches use some variation of the crescent shape, with pins or hooks that engage holes or notches in the assembly. There are different types of spanners for different types of jobs. They can be used to turn objects that range from water filter housings, to fire house fittings, to shock absorber caps, to bearing assemblies.

NEW TOOLS

Stanley-Proto is adding three types of spanner wrenches that are entirely new to the company. All come in a chrome finish.

o Hinged Adjustable Hook Spanners in two sizes. This heavy duty wrench is capable of turning assemblies as large as 12 ¾ in. diameter. The wrench is adjusted by moving the hinged hook through 11 fixed positions.

o Sliding Adjustable Hook Spanners in three sizes. These tools resemble a monkey wrench, with a moving jaw that slides along a shank, and a knurled adjustment knob.

o Adjustable Pin Spanners in three sizes. This tool is used to tighten nuts with side holes. It has a moving jaw that slides along the shank, but there's no adjustment knob, and the jaws are self-locking onto the nut.

NEW ADDITIONS TO EXISTING TOOLS

The company has also added new SKUs to its existing hook, hinge, and face spanner lines, as well as three new monkey wrenches.

Hook Spanners in five new sizes. Hook spanners are the most basic type of spanner. They're used to tighten side slot nuts on collars, lock nut rings and bearings. They have a spring loaded hinge.

Hinged Pin Spanners in five new sizes. These tools are similar to hook spanners, but have a precision-sized pin at the top instead of a hook. They're used to tighten collars, lock nut rings, and bearings.

Face Spanners in two new sizes. These tools are designed for nuts with holes or slots at the top, as well as collars, lock nut rings, and seal and packing nuts on hydraulic cylinders.

Monkey Wrenches in three new sizes. Though it doesn't have pins or hooks, the monkey wrench serves a similar purpose as a spanner. It's used to turn large objects where surface marring isn't a concern. The new models have jaw capacities from 60mm to 80mm.

All of the new items have a chrome finish. They complement the existing black oxide tools, and offer enhanced corrosion resistance. They're available for purchase immediately.
