Sophos Expands North American Operations with New Toronto Office

BOSTON, Mass., May 8 / -- Sophos, a world leader in IT security and control, today announced it has expanded its North American operations by opening a Toronto office. This addition is part of Sophos's overall growth strategy and deepens its North American footprint. Sophos also announced that James Drozdiak, formerly of IBM, will lead Canadian sales operations from this new location.

Sophos now has three offices spanning North America -- Toronto, ON; Vancouver, BC; and the company's headquarters in Boston, MA. The Toronto facility was selected for its proximity to Pearson International Airport and its on-site training facilities.

"A Toronto-based office plays an important role in Sophos's North American business strategy as our goal is to grow business by maximizing existing relationships with Canadian-based channel partners, customers and prospects," said Mark Hatton, president of Sophos North America. "Toronto is the fourth largest city in North America, representing 20 percent of the Canadian GDP and more than a third of all Canadian head offices. This market represents tremendous opportunity for Sophos, and we are excited to have feet on the ground in Toronto."

Last year, Sophos's annual growth surpassed the industry average with North American market gains averaging close to 50 percent. This year's revenue goals for Canada are more aggressive, and by extending business operations into Toronto, Sophos will be more equipped to successfully market its solutions and services locally.

James joins Sophos from IBM Canada Corporation (Toronto), where he held the position of principal, security sales specialist. Prior to that, he worked at various companies such as Symantec Corporation, Qunara Inc. (Manitoba Telecom) and RSA Security Inc. James holds a B.A.A. from Ryerson University.

"With years of leadership experience in the industry, we are pleased to welcome James to our team. I am confident that he has the experience and dedication to continue building relationships in the Canadian marketplace," continued Hatton.
