Sioux Corporation Announced as Winner of Presidential Export Award

WASHINGTON, DC - Sioux Corporation of Beresford was one of twenty-one companies honored by U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke on November 5 as recipients of the prestigious 2009 Presidential "E" and "E Star" Awards during a ceremony at the National District Export Council Conference in Washington, D.C.. The "E" Award is the highest U.S. Government recognition any U.S. entity may receive for developing export programs.

A Quote from Secretary Locke:

The Presidential "E" Award was created by President John F. Kennedy in 1961, to recognize persons, firms, or organizations that contribute significantly to increasing United States exports. The Presidential "E Star" Award recognizes continued superior performance in increasing or promoting exports. The International Trade Administration, which seeks to improve the global business environment and help U.S. firms to compete and win both at home and abroad, manages the award program that has recognized more than 2,500 firms since its inception.

Sioux Corporation manufactures industrial pressure washers, steam cleaners, water/solution heaters, and steam generators for a number of markets around the world, including petroleum exploration and production (offshore and onshore), mining (underground and surface), food and beverage processing, marine, concrete production (ready mix and pre-cast), greenhouse and nursery, construction, rental, manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, transportation, and all branches of the government and military. Although Sioux has been actively exporting since the late 1960's, in 2005, the company expanded its marketing program, significantly increasing sales throughout the world.

Sioux works with the U.S. Department of Commerce offices around the world through Cinnamon King in the local office in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Sioux has installed numerous programs to expand exports into North America, Latin America, Asia/Pacific, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and has sponsored export seminars at various trade shows throughout the world.

Most Sioux office employees are required to complete export classes and internal training certification programs in documentation, export terminology, international business terms & conditions, international financing, shipping and international standards and codes. Therefore, each employee knows the basics and the team has learned to handle a wide range of problems that are unique to export sales.

Sioux prints literature in a number of languages including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, French, and Chinese. We also label our products in other languages and use international units of measure so that customers can understand terminology and specifications (such as temperature, pressure, and flow to name a few).

Sioux's international business development strategy has produced excellent results, and export sales have tripled in the last four years. Recently Sioux was awarded the SBA South Dakota Small Business Exporter of the Year, and received two awards from US Congress for exporting achievements.
