Simplex Isolation Systems Helps Achieve LEED Certification

FONTANA, CA - Simplex Isolation Systems, a manufacturer and designer of isolation enclosures, cleanrooms and strip doors, has posted a letter on its website detailing how its products can help business owners, architects and construction companies achieve LEED accreditation with Simplex products.

LEED, an acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a nationally recognized program of the Green Building Association. LEED sets guidelines and standards for architects and construction companies so that they can build structures that are environmentally sensitive and sustainable. By incorporating specific designs, components and procedures into construction of buildings, owners can achieve various levels of LEED designation. Buildings that meet LEED requirements conserve energy and in some jurisdictions also earn rebates and other concessions from utility companies.

The letter reads, in part:

"The Simplex Isolation product line can contribute toward the satisfaction of 3-4 LEED Credits under the ʻNew Construction and Major Renovation and ʻExisting Building Operation & Maintenance' rating systems.

"The contributions are divided into two distinct sections of the LEED Rating Systems and effect specific Prerequisites and Credits. ("LEED 2009 for New Construction and Major Renovations")."

The letter goes on to describe how Simplex isolation products achieve thermal insulation and improve overall HVAC efficiencies and reduce the overall carbon footprint of a building. A separate section of the letter outlines the recycled content of the aluminum used by Simplex, as well as the PVC vinyl used in Simplex products. These are both areas considered by Green Building Association when assessing a building for LEED certification.

"LEED certification has become a significant part of building and construction," said Simplex President Duane McKinnon. "Owners are demanding it. Energy conservation has always been one of the core benefits of our products."

The LEED letter can be used when the construction project manager is accumulating the various paperwork to submit for LEED certification. The letter can be found on the Simplex website at www.simplexstripdoors.com/LEED.
