Silicon Image Expands HDMI and PanelLink Cinema Testing Operations to China

New Shenzhen Center Brings Local HDMI Testing Capability to Chinese Consumer Electronics Makers

SHENZHEN, China, Nov. 21 /-- Silicon Image, Inc. (NASDAQ:SIMG), a leader in the secure distribution, presentation and storage of high-definition content, today announced the expansion of the company's HDMI and PanelLink Cinema testing capabilities to China. Opening in Shenzhen, the HDMI Authorized Testing Center and the PanelLink Cinema Testing Center will greatly simplify and accelerate the process of bringing HDMI products to market for Chinese consumer electronics manufacturers.

Spurred by tremendous demand from China, Silicon Image established this joint testing center to provide Chinese manufacturers with easy access to a testing facility. There are currently 32 Chinese HDMI Adopters, up from 10 at the start of 2005. The rollout of HDMI continues to accelerate globally, with projections showing that more than 16 million devices featuring HDMI will be sold in 2005. This rapid adoption of HDMI has spurred the need for expanded testing capabilities provided by the HDMI Authorized Testing Center in Shenzhen, which will join existing HDMI Authorized Testing Centers in Sunnyvale, California, Osaka, Japan, and Caen, France.

Since the HDMI specification was first published in December 2002, HDMI has quickly become a de facto standard for connecting consumer electronics devices. By delivering crystal-clear all-digital video and audio quality via a single cable, HDMI helps provide consumers with the ultimate home theater experience.

The PLC Partners Program is open to manufacturers of home entertainment devices, including HDTVs, DTVs, Set-Top Boxes (STBs), DVD players, A/V Receivers, semiconductors and cables. The program also has broad industry support from content providers The Walt Disney Co., Fox, Universal and Warner Bros.

"The opening of this facility really speaks to HDMI's global reach," said Brett Gaines, senior director of Corporate Development at Silicon Image and president of PanelLink Cinema, LLC, administrator of the PLC Partners Program. "It is clear that HDMI is quickly becoming a critical technology for Chinese electronics manufacturers, for both their export and domestic home entertainment products. We are very excited to see the expansion of both the HDMI Authorized Testing Center and PLC Testing Center operations into the Chinese market."
