Service Providers around the World Are Choosing Amdocs to Support Their Prepaid Operations

In 2010, company awarded new projects to support nearly 100 million prepaid subscribers

ST. LOUIS, Nov. 17, 2010 -- Amdocs (NYSE: DOX), the leading provider of customer experience systems, gained rapid momentum in prepaid during 2010, with several customer wins and deployments, new solutions that lead the evolution of prepaid, and breakthrough benchmark results demonstrating product excellence. Today, service providers require solutions that can grow customer loyalty with new services and a better customer experience, and can scale to support increasingly larger prepaid event volumes with low-cost hardware.

Global uptake of Amdocs' prepaid solutions to offer new prepaid services

In 2010, Amdocs' prepaid solutions were selected by service providers of all sizes in North America, Asia and Europe, to support a total of nearly 100 million prepaid subscribers. Among the projects deployed was a six-month rollout to support the launch of new, pay-in-advance entrant Mobilicity in Canada, which was delivered in a managed services model.

"In order to offer pay-in-advance services, you have to be able to rate every single voice or data event in real-time. The Amdocs system does that really well. Since the launch of Mobilicity's operations in May, not a single event was lost!" said Dave Dobbin, president and chief executive officer of Mobilicity at an event for global media held in September (also available in video: amdocs.com/mobilicity-ceo ).

Amdocs offers advanced real-time charging capabilities for the creation of sophisticated offers that bundle services (e.g. voice, data, SMS) and prepaid/postpaid payment channels. Amdocs is also helping prepaid MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators) to quickly launch operations and localize services to offer a personalized experience to their different market segments, as new regulations open markets around the world to MVNO entrants.

Leading evolution of prepaid offerings to improve the customer experience

In October, Amdocs announced a new prepaid charging and top-up solution in partnership with Vesta. Most of today's prepaid offerings focus on providing real-time charging and replenishment capabilities. The new solution extends beyond that to help service providers improve the experience for their prepaid customers. It does so by enabling them to offer convenient top-up channels, coupled with innovative pricing schemes, such as hybrid prepaid postpaid models.

Benchmarks demonstrate superior product performance to handle large event volumes

In December 2009, Amdocs announced the results of a benchmark that set the industry record for real-time charging performance, demonstrating the ability of the Amdocs Turbo Charging technology to process 276 million busy hour call attempts (BHCA, or calls during peak calling hours) on low-cost hardware. Earlier this week, Amdocs also reported the results of a benchmark that set a new record for large-volume processing of prepaid voice, data and messaging, demonstrating the ability of the Amdocs jNetX NextGen SCP (service control point) to perform real-time service control for more than 510 million BHCA on low-cost hardware.

The Amdocs Prepaid solution combines the Amdocs Convergent Charging product based on the Amdocs Turbo Charging technology, with the jNetX NextGen SCP product. This combination provides a complete prepaid solution, from network session and event control, through service creation and delivery, to real-time charging and customer management.
