Scott Specialty Gases Presents Annual Board of Directors Safety Awards


Plumsteadville, PA¬-Scott Specialty Gases recently honored several regional facilities for outstanding achievements in safety for 2006. The annual Board of Directors Safety Award is presented to Scott facilities that meet numerous criteria including no significant injuries or accidents as well as timely completion of safety improvement projects identified during routine safety audits.

Regional Scott facilities receiving the awards include:

Eastern Region				  Specialty Gases Group
Southern California/Asian Region Electronic Materials Group
Western Region New Jersey Region
Northeastern Region Medical Products Group

J. Frederick Merz, Chairman and CEO of Scott Specialty Gases, stated, "Due to the nature of our business, we must remain especially vigilant about safety. Merz continued, "I am especially proud of our safety record for 2006. For the first time in the near 50-year history of our company, we did not have a single lost-time injury. In addition, with just four minor injuries, our injury rate is the lowest it's been since 2001. This is a testament to our dedication to safety in all of our facilities, both here in North America and overseas."
