Sanpellegrino Nestle Waters Italy and Chep Join Forces to Improve the Environmental Impact of Italian Logistics
MILAN, ITALY - November 15, 2006 - CHEP will present the environmental benefits of a pallet pool concept at the 2nd International Conference of the SOS Logisticia Association, which will take place in Milan on November 29, 2006. Sanpellegrino Nestlé Waters Italy will participate with a case study.

Our pallet and container pooling system helps eliminate more than six million tons of wood from landfills each year." He continued, "This message will be an integral part of our joint presentation at the SOS Logistica conference. In Italy almost all major retailers receive goods loaded on pooled pallets. By opting for pooled pallets, businesses have an excellent opportunity to contribute to a sustainable environment."

SOS Logistica is an Italian association that works to decrease the environmental impact of the logistical process and sets out to demonstrate that by adopting this strategy, contrary to what many think, it can have a positive influence on a company's financial performance. In this conference, which is entitled "Sustainable Logistics: Necessity or Opportunity", the association will welcome the participation of Amartya K Sen, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics and a Professor at Harvard University, who will defend the coexistence of the environment and the market economy. The work of SOS Logistica has been supported by the Italian government and major international corporations including Nestlé, Volvo, and Iveco.
