Ridewell is a leading U.S. manufacturer of air-ride suspensions for the truck, trailer, bus and recreational vehicle industries, while Weweler, a division of VDL, serves similar markets in Europe from their base in the Netherlands. The joint venture will integrate Weweler's cutting-edge European technology with Ridewell's knowledge of the North American vehicle market. This partnership is pleased to offer a revolutionary electronically-controlled, forced-steer auxiliary axle suspension system.
The new system will provide users improved fuel economy, reduced tire wear and improved maneuverability. Features of the suspension system include:
o Hydraulically steered with electronic control for rapid reaction;
o Programmable electronic control unit that senses vehicle speed and front axle steer angle to precisely control steer angle of auxiliary;
o Electronic control unit ensure a centered hydraulic / mechanical lock at higher vehicle speed;
o Custom formed axle beam to provide optimal clearance;
o Compatibility with steel and air suspended drive axles;
o Truck and trailer applications;
o Pusher and tag configurations; and
o Axle load capacities up to 20,000 lbs.
The electronically controlled hydraulically steered auxiliary system is also available with the following options:
o Integrated axle lifting systems;
o Custom track axles;
o Disc & drum brakes - 17 ½", 19 ½" and 22 ½" available;
o Single and duel wheel configurations; and
o Custom drops up to 12.4" in formed axle beams.
