Renowned Lighting Institute Announces First Half 2006 Conferences


New conference for residential contractors debuts in June

CLEVELAND - Lighting technology changes every day, and many innovative solutions for today's applications are presented at the renowned Lighting Institute, the world's foremost lighting training facility. Featuring full-scale demonstration centers and a staff of lighting experts, the Lighting Institute has served the industry for more than 70 years from GE's historic Nela Park campus in Cleveland. The conference schedule for the 1st and 2nd Quarters of 2006 includes the following:

FUNDAMENTALS OF COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LIGHTING
Designed for newcomers to the lighting industry, this conference provides basic product and application training for commercial and industrial lighting. This program contains lectures and full-scale lighting demonstrations that create an interesting, fast-paced, comprehensive lighting conference. Topics include: lighting terminology; lighting measurements and color; an overview of major light source families and systems; and application modules for retail, office, industrial and outdoor lighting.

RETAIL LIGHTING
Professionals who specify retail lighting or supervise the maintenance of lighting in department, grocery, specialty or mass merchandise stores comprise the target audience for this conference. With presentations in full-scale retail settings and interactive sessions, participants experience effective demonstrations of state of the art lighting alternatives and learn about lighting solutions for their own applications. Topics include: energy efficient lighting system alternatives; light and color in the retail environment; current energy legislation; and retail lighting design strategies and detailing. Includes a hands-on workshop and optional post-conference off-site store tours.

This conference is designed for facility managers, maintenance supervisors and other professionals who are involved in specifying or maintaining lighting systems in a healthcare setting. Topics include: new developments in lighting systems and controls; outdoor lighting for safety and security; and energy legislation and lamp disposal updates. This new conference is open to all trade area partners for the homebuilder industry, specifically residential contractors and electricians.
