Praxair Distribution Appoints D'Alessandro Vice President of Acquisitions


DANBURY, Conn., August 10, 2006 - Praxair Distribution, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Praxair, Inc. (NYSE: PX) has named Robert D'Alessandro, vice president of acquisitions reporting to Wayne Yakich, president of Praxair Distribution.

D'Alessandro, currently president of Welco-CGI Gas Technologies in Newark, New Jersey, a Praxair Distribution joint venture company, will assume leadership of PDI's acquisitions activity in the U.S. and Canada. He will also be responsible for ensuring that newly acquired businesses are effectively integrated into the Praxair Distribution organization.

"Rob is uniquely qualified for this new position," said Yakich. "Combined with his business and industry experience and knowledge, Rob brings the leadership and focus required to drive our acquisition growth."

D'Alessandro is a graduate of Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and Boston College Law School. In 1996, he joined Welco Gases Corp., the family firm founded by his grandfather, Nick D'Alessandro. He became president of Welco later that year after the death of his father, Frank D'Alessandro.

Welco-CGI Gas Technologies serving customers in New Jersey, New York City and eastern Pennsylvania, was formed in January 2001 as the result of a merger of assets from Welco Gases Corp. and CGI Industries, Inc. of Pine Brook, N.J., and subsequently the joint venture with Praxair Distribution.

John Moreland, previously vice president of sales at Welco-CGI, has been named general manager and will assume the day-to-day business leadership role for the joint venture.
