PPG Names Mauck General Manager of Protective, Marine Coatings

PITTSBURGH, July 11, 2006 - PPG Industries has named Tom Mauck general manager of protective and marine coatings, a business created with the announcement that the company has reached agreement to acquire the Performance Coatings and Finishes business of Ameron International Corporation.

Mauck joined the company in 1980 as an accounting trainee in the Cleveland coatings plant and progressed through a series of financial and planning assignments before being named general manager of industrial finishes in 1999 and director of raw materials purchasing in 2002. In his new position, Mauck will report to Rich Alexander, senior vice president, coatings.

"Our protective and marine coatings business will leverage PPG's infrastructure, enabling our global coatings distribution networks to provide greater market access for Ameron's protective coatings alongside PPG's existing protective coatings products," Alexander said. "In addition, the marine coatings business provides us with a new market to pursue."

PPG's protective and marine coatings business will manufacture and supply protective coatings for a wide variety of uses, including chemical plants, nuclear power plants, oil platforms, ships, barges, rail cars, bridges and stadiums.

Stephen Lampe, business controller, coatings, will replace Mauck as PPG's director of raw materials purchasing.

Pittsburgh-based PPG is the world's leading manufacturer of transportation coatings, a global supplier of industrial and packaging coatings, and a leading producer of architectural coatings, primarily in North America. In addition, PPG manufactures flat and fabricated glass, continuous-strand fiber glass and chemicals. Sales were US$10.2 billion for 2005
