Powers Fasteners Opens High-Tech Engineering Lab; Names Jacob Olsen Vice President, Research & Development

Powers Fasteners, Inc., the leading domestic manufacturer of concrete anchoring systems, has opened a large state-of-the-art engineering research and testing laboratory at the company's world headquarters building in Brewster, N.Y.

The announcement was made by Company President Jeffrey Reid Powers, who also announced the appointment of Jacob Olsen as Vice President of Research & Development and head of the new facility.

"Architects and engineers can feel confident specifying Powers Fasteners products knowing that not all anchoring products are created equal," said Mr. Powers. "The Powers Fasteners difference," he added, "starts with engineering and a commitment to product development and then continues with rigorous testing, quality control and refinement of each and every product."

The 15,000 square-foot laboratory replicates actual jobsite environments, and is considered the "foremost test facility in the country for cracked concrete," according to Mr. Powers. "It enables Powers Fasteners to accommodate specialty requests and applications, and to thoroughly test and validate products and procedures," he concluded.

Mr. Olsen, a Professional Engineer, joined Powers in 2005 as Director of Product Development after nearly five years as Staff Engineer with CEL Consulting, a materials testing and consulting firm in Oakland, Calif. He holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from California State University at East Bay and a master's degree in structural engineering for earthquakes from San Francisco State University. A native of Chicago, Mr. Olsen lives in Danbury, Conn.

Powers Fasteners offers an extensive line of mechanical and adhesive anchors, roofing fasteners, gas-firing tools and powder actuated fastening systems serving professional construction and plant maintenance markets. The company has manufacturing facilities in Michigan, Indianapolis and Chicago, along with 28 regional sales locations throughout the United States.
