Powers Fasteners Moves to Larger World Headquarters Building in Brewster, New York

Construction Fastening Firm Positions Itself for Present and Future Growth:

After 50 years in the same building at 2 Powers Square in New Rochelle, Powers Fasteners, Inc. has moved its World Headquarters staff 40 miles north to a large ultra modern complex at 2 Powers Lane in Brewster, New York. The corporate headquarters facility directs the manufacturing in Hudson, Mich., and the logistics of 40 other company run facilities in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Europe.

"The need to have a better working environment for our expanding employee base at head office plus the concentration on product development, engineering and training were at the core of our reasons to move" said President Jeffrey R. Powers in announcing the corporate relocation. "It was amazing that we stayed that long at our old location considering that sales have grown five fold in the past ten years. Global sales this year are 25 percent ahead of last year for the first quarter and with new products on the horizon the future looks bright. The new location gives us both a better working environment and significant room for expansion."

The 140,000 square-foot building was purchased by the Powers family and is situated with a lake on 19 acres of land. The office section was recently renovated at a cost exceeding $5 million dollars, with the major going to the engineering and development areas. Powers also has added an advanced computerized security system in addition to large state-of-the-art product testing and research and development facilities. There also is a giant fitness and exercise room for employees and a full-service cafeteria offering free soda, coffee and bottled water throughout the day.

"It's always been about the people who work for us, and we have done everything we could to make the new corporate headquarters as inviting, efficient and accommodating as possible," said Mr. Powers, who added that more than 75 percent of Powers employees have at least 10 years of service.

Founded 85 years ago as the Rawlplug Company, Powers Fasteners has emerged as a leader and innovator in the fastening industry and the leading domestic manufacturer of mechanical and adhesive concrete anchoring systems. The company also has broadened its product lines over the years into a complete offering of powder actuated and gas-fired fastening systems and an extensive line of accessories serving professional construction and plant maintenance markets.

The family-owned firm is operated by Mr. Powers, who succeeded his father as President in 1997, and his three brothers -- Christopher, who is CEO; Stephen, Vice President, MIS; and Frederic III, Vice President, Materials. It has manufacturing facilities in Hudson, along with 28 regional sales locations throughout the United States. Approximately one-third of sales are in markets outside the United States where Powers now has two locations in Canada, eight in Australia and New Zealand, one in Thailand and one in the Netherlands.
