PIKA Announces European Reseller Partnership with Slacht

Asterisk-Based PBX Incorporates PIKA Boards to Offer Lower Cost Solution for SMEs

Ottawa, ON, Canada - June 7, 2007 - PIKA Technologies Inc., a designer and manufacturer of plug-in media-processing hardware and software, today announced a reseller partnership with Slacht, a division of Irish software and telecoms services company, Tuxenergy. Under the terms of the agreement, Slacht incorporates PIKA boards into its Asterisk-based PBX offering and offers this product for sale through its reseller channel.

Slacht spent over two years developing a wall-mounted Asterisk-based IP-PBX phone system that meets all enterprise communications requirements, including phone, instant messaging and e-mail. PIKA worked closely with Slacht to assist with integrating the InLine, PIKA's low-density analog board, and the company's Digital Gateway Board, which provide Slacht's customers a reliable integration to the PSTN, with solid echo cancellation.

"We could see right away that PIKA offered solid technology," said Kevin Buckley, Managing Director, Slacht. "It supported our open-source technologies of choice, Asterisk and Mandriva Linux, and it offered echo cancellation, something the other vendors we looked at did not feature. Best of all, the price was right."

In addition to the price benefit associated with selecting PIKA boards, Slacht customers are receiving a high-quality, dependable solution that is easily scalable.

"We're one of the few PBX vendors that offer an easy-to-use solution, and our customers like that," said Buckley. "We have a simple graphical interface and installation wizard that lets customers put a CD into our hardware and install everything they need. Thanks to the PIKA boards, once the customer installs Slacht, it stays working and offers a reliable communications solution."

PIKA is encouraged that its focus on providing hardware and software solutions that easily interface with open-source development tools is reaffirmed by this new partnership.

"Slacht's solution again proves the business case for open-source technologies like Asterisk, and low-cost, high-quality analog and digital boards like PIKA's," said Terry Atwood, PIKA's Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Customer Care. "Development and hardware costs are kept low and, consequently, small- and medium-sized businesses can afford an IP-PBX telephone system that offers the features and stability of a large enterprise PBX system at a lower price point."

See PIKA Technologies at VON Europe Spring, Stockholm, Sweden, from June 11 to 14 in booth 609.
