Paxis and Sartomer, Business Line of Arkema, Collaborate to Develop Advanced Materials for New Additive Manufacturing Process Technology

Sartomer, a pioneer in advanced photocurable resin solutions, and Paxis, a 3D printing innovator, are co- developing custom materials for Paxis’ WAV™ (Wave Applied Voxel) additive manufacturing process technology.

The WAV™ process is a new, scalable industrial additive manufacturing process designed to solve the limitations of existing liquid-resin-based technologies. The patented WAV technology enables scalability in size and speed, significant reduction in post-processing requirements, multiple material production, exotic material management, lower operating costs, elimination of a large vat during large-part production and the ability for embedded components.

Sartomer will work with Paxis to develop a library of new custom materials tailored to work with the WAV technology and solve application-specific needs. Paxis and Sartomer also look to identify new market opportunities. Part of the 3D Printing Solutions by Arkema platform, the UV-curable liquid resins in Sartomer’s N3XTDIMENSION® product portfolio are specifically designed to promote high-performance and tailored characteristics of 3D-printed products.

“Sartomer is a historic partner for 3D printing innovators, and we are excited to collaborate with Paxis because WAV technology is positioned to change manufacturing as it exists today,” said Sumeet Jain, senior director, 3D Printing Worldwide at Arkema. “Through our joint efforts, we aim to develop next-generation products and solutions that will continue to disrupt and advance the way parts are mass manufactured.”

Mike Littrell, CEO, co-inventor of WAV and founder of Paxis, added, “The most successful way to overcome the limitations of current additive manufacturing technology is through collaboration with like-minded innovators. Sartomer is a 3D printing materials pioneer, and its experts push resin advancement to meet and exceed the needs of current additive manufacturing applications. Designed with the end user in mind, WAV technology will enable the end user to select the material that best meets their application needs. We look forward to working with Sartomer and focus on developing new vertical markets, as well as advanced manufacturing solutions for the WAV technology.”

About Paxis
Founded in 2016, Paxis LLC, headquartered in Crystal Lake, Illinois, announced the development of the WAV™ (Wave Applied Voxel) process, with commercialization timing to be announced at a later date. Designed to meet advanced manufacturing needs within the Additive Manufacturing (AM) and 3D Printing industry, while expandable to non-AM industries, WAV is a completely new, ground-up AM process. Designed without constraints, the new, patented WAV technology is fully scalable in the X, Y, and Z axes and deploys material in a unique way that allows for the production of extremely large parts or larger quantities of smaller parts with as little as 1 liter of material loaded in the machine at any given time. The technology is designed to embrace the use of multiple materials of different viscosities within the same part build. For more information, visit
