Parmatech Receives 2009 MPIF Award of Distinction in the Hand Tool/Recreation Category
PETALUMA, CA - Parmatech Corporation, a leading provider of custom manufactured Metal Injection Molding (MIM) components and services, has received the "2009 Award of Distinction" in the hand tool/recreation category from the Metal Powder Industries Federation's Design Excellence Awards Competition held at PowderMet 2009 in Las Vegas. The winning 420 stainless steel housing block used in a 45-caliber handgun, is an example of how Parmatech's metal injection molding (MIM) capabilities deliver efficient solutions to complex engineering components.
The 420 stainless steel housing block contains the firearms spring mechanism and provides sliding action with other mechanical parts. The complex MIM part features wings, undercuts, both through-holes and blind holes, as well as thin and thick cross sections. Formed to a final density of 7.7 g/cm, the part has a tensile strength of 261,000 psi, yield strength of 218,000 psi, and a 48-52 HRC hardness range.
