PACOR Provides Fabrication Capabilities for Revolutionary Nanoporous Aerogel Insulation Materials

DATE: OCTOBER 19, 2007

PACOR, Inc., and its wholly owned subsidiary LIT Industries, Inc., have agreed to partner with Aspen Aerogels, Inc. to fabricate revolutionary insulation materials made from nanoporous aerogels, the world's best thermal insulator. Aspen's aerogel materials are available for service temperatures from -460ºF (-273ºC) to 1200ºF (649ºC). This wide range enables the insulation to perform in low, high, and dual temperature applications. Aerogels offer 2 to 8 times the insulation value for the same thickness compared to traditional materials. An extremely thin profile increases internal volume within tight spaces, providing more usable area for the same footprint. Aerogels offer excellent resistance to flame spread and smoke emission and are easy to fabricate. Lighter in weight than other insulation materials, Aspen aerogels offer hydrophobicity (outstanding resistance to moisture). They are environmentally friendly, making them attractive to the Green building movement.

From plants in New Jersey, North Carolina, and Georgia, PACOR and LIT Industries utilize state-of-the-art equipment to fabricate insulation that meets customer specifications for industrial applications. Operations such as precision die cutting, CNC cutting, close tolerance slitting and sheeting, and application of pressure sensitive adhesives can be performed with Aspen Aerogels to fabricate this new generation of insulation. Aerogel technology offers insulating benefits for a variety of applications in a wide range of industries.
