Traceability & Serialization Technologies to Combat Counterfeiting to be Spotlighted at PACK EXPO International 2012



Reston, Va. — Counterfeit drugs and related criminal activities continue to be a major problem in the global pharmaceutical market.  Brand owners, do have a recourse, however; they can see new technology to mitigate vulnerabilities in the drug supply and gain critical insight to stay ahead of the curve at PACK EXPO International 2012 (October 28-31; McCormick Place, Chicago, Ill.).



“Counterfeit drugs pose a threat not only to the pharmaceutical industry but to the health and security of our society,” said Charles D. Yuska, president CEO, PMMI. “PACK EXPO will feature some of the most sophisticated technologies in pharmaceutical packaging, including serialization and track and trace protocols, to help them better integrate security and manage risk.”



The show will offer a number of resources to pharmaceutical professionals, including the sold-out Pharmaceutical Pavilion. The pavilion will feature the latest advances in labeling, filling and inspection systems as well as blister packaging, flexible pouches, tubes and closures among others.  These specialized technologies will also be on display at booths throughout the show.



In addition, The Rx Lounge will serve as a networking hub for attendees, allowing them to share ideas and engage in a dialogue with suppliers. The lounge’s “Ask the Expert” feature, staffed by representatives of the Midwest and Great Lakes chapters of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), will be a resource for attendees seeking advice about their specific issues and technologies.

Fees for The Conference at PACK EXPO are $99 per session through October 8, 2012, when tickets increase to $125 per session. The ticket price includes admission to the PACK EXPO show floor. The registration cost for exhibit access only is $30 per person through Oct. 8; thereafter, the price increases to $60.
