Newforma Presents at McGraw-Hill Construction / AIACC Change Conference

New CEU course presents benefits of process approach to project information management

MANCHESTER, N.H., June 29 /-- Newforma, a software company addressing the project information management needs of the design and building industry, announced today that CEO Ian Howell and Vice President Bob Batcheler delivered a new, CEU-eligible luncheon presentation at the Change Conference held June 25-26, 2007, at the Mission Bay Conference Center of the University of California, San Francisco. The event was organized by McGraw-Hill Construction and The American Institute of Architects California Council. Attendees of Newforma's presentation course, "Managing Project Information for a More Integrated Practice - Five Industry Lessons," qualified to earn AIA/CES learning unit credits.

Newforma's Howell, an experienced architect and founder of the International Alliance for Interoperability, and Batcheler, a civil engineer and AEC technology executive, presented five hot spots where current project information management practices fall short of the needs of today's project processes. A new approach proposes that these hot spots can be removed or streamlined by shaping technology to process, instead of adapting process to technology. Case studies of experiences at architectural firms HOK Sport+Venue+Event and Gould Evans illustrated the value of applying a process approach.
