New 'Savi Knowledge Center' Delivers State-of-the-Art, World-Class RFID Training On-Site or Online

Upgraded Showcase Instructional Facility and 'Virtual' Courses Provide Hands-On, Skills-Based Education for Customers and Partners

SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Leveraging more than 16 years of proven, real-world expertise, the Savi Knowledge Center recently opened its doors as a new showcase facility providing on-site and online instruction on how best to deploy Savi Technology's portfolio of successful Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) supply chain solutions. Savi Technology already has trained more than 1,000 customers and partners, and participants now have the advantage of learning about RFID and Savi's widening range of real-time solutions for defense and commercial organizations in an upgraded, world-class learning environment designed for hands-on, skills-based instruction.

Located at the company's global headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, the Savi Knowledge Center, savi.com/skc/overview.skc.shtml , also provides courses at a satellite site in Herndon, VA. Highly credentialed trainers provide instruction on RFID solutions through a dozen classroom courses ranging from "Introduction to RFID" and "Field Service Engineering" to "Savi SmartStart(TM) Solution" and "Savi Consignment Management Solution."

"A team of more than 50 RFID solution experts at Savi has been tapped to formalize and elevate our training programs to this new level of excellence through the Savi Knowledge Center," said Darren Hakeman, Savi Technology's senior vice president of Global Services. "As Savi's leadership role continues to expand, it's critical that we provide practical training to ensure that our customers and partners maximize business value from our products and solutions."

Most recent participants in Savi Knowledge Center courses have included customers and partners from a wide range of organizations, including major international shippers, systems integrators, port and terminal operators, logistics service providers, and military services.

There are multiple ways to utilize the many facets of the Savi Knowledge Center. In addition to Savi customers and partners, students can register for on-site courses in California or Virginia, enroll in "virtual classes" from their own locations or progress at their own pace through online instruction, which includes downloadable courses with animations and instructional video clips. Course catalogue, schedules, delivery methods, registration and log-in access all can be found at savi.com/skc/overview.skc.shtml .

Courses typically last 2-5 days, depending on the breadth and depth of material to be covered. For example, the course on the "Savi Portable Deployment Kit" lasts two days and is geared for quick in-field implementations, while "Savi Asset Management Solution" and "Savi SmartChain Transportation Security Solution" are instructor-driven, hands-on classes that take five days each.

"Savi SmartStart" is a self-paced class that is designed to teach users in commercial enterprises to quickly and affordably track assets at a single site location. Another self-paced online course is "Savi RFID-ACT", which is designed for suppliers seeking quick, simple and flexible ways to comply with RFID policy requirements from the U.S. Department of Defense.

Savi Technology's RFID-based solutions and information services have received numerous industry awards and have been used to track over two million tagged shipments through more than 2,000 locations and 50 countries. Savi Technology is the primary provider of active RFID to the U.S. Department of Defense, NATO and allied defense forces.
