New BeamClamp Connection Designer Software from Kee Industrial Products Provides a Fast, Simple Online Design Tool for Steel-to-Steel Connections

(JUNE 22, 2006) - The BeamClamp Division of Kee Industrial Products, Inc., Buffalo, New York, announces the introduction of its new BeamClamp Connection Designer website developed to enable engineers to design steel-to-steel connections quickly and easily. BeamClamp fasteners secure new steel to existing steel without the need for on-site welding or drilling, and each connection has a guaranteed safe working load with a factor of safety of 5:1, according to Kee Industrial.

The BeamClamp Connection Designer first prompts the engineer to select the type of existing steel in his or her application (wide flange beam, structural I-beam, channel, or the bottom chord of a truss). The software then displays a menu of illustrated steel connections ranging from the simple beam-to-beam connection to more complex applications such as connections to pitched roofs and connections with height differences between new and existing steel. The next step in the user-friendly website, Kee Industrial states, is to enter the steel size through either drop down menus or by manually inputting steel dimensions. Standard US steel sizes, European HE, IPN and British UB & UC selections are maintained within the site database. Load to be carried and other necessary specifications, depending on the type of connection are also entered.
The final stage of the software displays a unique CAD detail showing the BeamClamp steel connection specific to the user's steel sizes, load criteria and steel layout. Each connection is given a unique assembly number that can be used to accurately specify the connections. As a precaution, parameters submitted outside of recommended connections are returned with a warning message, "Clamp configuration not recommended," or noted as a submission error.
