Press release date: Aug 03, 2012
The National Export Initiative (NEI) report to the president notes that "a globally competitive U.S. supply chain infrastructure is critical to the success of the NEI and to sustained American economic growth." After hearing this announcement, Acting Secretary of Commerce Rebecca Blank stated her expectation that the committee will focus on specific, actionable, and measurable ways that the Department can respond to challenges of the existing infrastructure that is seen as inefficient and outdated.
"Our member companies compete in a global arena. Their products are manufactured using raw materials and components from suppliers all over the world," said Mr. Gaddis. "A robust supply chain is critical to their success in supplying the world's safest and most efficient and reliable products."
NEMA is the association of electrical equipment and medical imaging manufacturers, founded in 1926 and headquartered in Arlington, Virginia. Its member companies manufacture a diverse set of products including power transmission and distribution equipment, lighting systems, factory automation and control systems, and medical diagnostic imaging systems. Worldwide annual sales of NEMA-scope products exceed $120 billion.
