National Technical Systems Wins DESPII Participation with Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, Information & Technical Solutions Division
Program Designates Contractors to Provide Ongoing Design and Engineering/Technical Support Services for the Department of Defense Mission Weapon Systems
Calabasas, CA - November 18, 2005 - National Technical Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTSC), a leading provider of quality and conformance testing and managed services, announced that it has been awarded a five year contract from Mission Systems to provide engineering, testing and managed services for weapon systems under DESPII. Mission Systems, who was recently awarded a prime contract by the managing agency of the DESPII program, Ogden Air Logistic Center, Hill AFB, Utah. NTS is one of six large business subcontractors participating on the Mission Systems team for the DESPII contract. NTS previously participated in DESPI providing environmental and munitions testing performed at NTS Camden, AR facility.
Under the agreement, National Technical Systems, (NTS), will provide a wide range of testing services including temperature, humidity, mechanical vibration, shock, electromagnetic interference and structural load testing. NTS will also provide managed engineering services, where NTS personnel are placed at government sites or deployed at the NTS nationwide facilities supporting this contract. NTS will provide engineering and testing services on nine of the weapons systems that Mission Systems identified under DESPII including
1) Air Vehicle Systems & Components
2) Ground Equipment/Ground Transportation
3) Munitions & Missiles
4) Gas Generating, Dispensing & Handling Systems
5) Power Transmission, Test Facilities, Safety Systems
6) Industrial Engineering
7) Ground Systems
8) Environmental Research
9) Space Systems

The Design Engineering Support Program creates and implements programs to provide design and engineering/technical support services for the Department of Defense's mission weapon systems, components, and support equipment. It includes engineering design, integration, system modifications, limited manufacturing, and other activities to support process analysis and improvements for maintenance/repair operations.
