Myant Inc., and CarlisleIT Announce Strategic Partnership for Next Generation Conductive Yarns and The Future of Textile Computing

Toronto, ON, Saint Augustine, FL; Toronto-based Myant Inc., the world’s leader in the design, development, and production of Textile Computing products, and Carlisle Interconnect Technologies, Inc. (CarlisleIT), a division of Carlisle Companies Inc., are pleased to announce the launch of a strategic and exclusive collaboration agreement towards the use and development of next-generation conductive yarns and connectors for use in textile computing applications.

Founded in 2010, Toronto-based Myant Inc. is creating the world’s first textile computing platform that connects humans to the world around them through textile-based solutions. By doing so, Myant is enabling Industry 5.0 and truly seamless, continuous and ambient human-computer interaction.

Myant’s SKIIN textile computing platform is produced through patented knitting techniques, and results in smart garments and smart textiles embedded with biometric sensors and actuators (heat and stimulus) that can accurately detect signals from the body 24/7, deliver bi-directional feedback, and in doing so enable better health, better performance, and better wellness.

This exclusive agreement with CarlisleIT guarantees Myant exclusive access to satisfy its requirements for millions of feet of the world’s highest quality and highest efficiency conductive yarn for this emerging new market. Alongside Myant’s exclusive partnership agreement for advanced knitting technology signed with Stoll A.G., Myant is now strategically positioned as the world’s go-to provider of textile computing expertise and manufacturing capacity with solutions that apply to industries including aerospace, automotive, healthcare, health and safety, military, performance apparel, and more.

Carlisle Interconnect Technologies is one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of high-performance wire and cable, including conductive yarns and connectors. Since 1940, CarlisleIT has grown its product portfolio to include specialty and filtered connectors, contacts, cable assemblies, complex harnesses, racks, trays and installation kits. CarlisleIT’s ARACON conductive yarns are ideally suited for use in smart textiles, with unparalleled washability, conductivity, and the strength of DuPont™ Kevlar®. ARACON yarns and braided EMI shields offer superior shielding effectiveness versus traditional copper wire solutions and provide significant weight savings in military, automotive and other smart textile applications.

As part of the agreement, Myant and CarlisleIT will combine their respective expertise related to textile computing and high-quality fibers and connectors to develop specific applications for use across industries. The two companies will also develop a collaboration for ongoing innovation towards next generation yarns and connectors.

In announcing the partnership, Tony Chahine, founder and CEO of Myant Inc., notes “Our partnership and exclusive agreement with CarlisleIT solidifies Myant’s leadership of the textile computing category, and our efforts to connect each of us to the world around us, and in so doing create proactive and anticipatory solutions for health, wellness and everyday living.”

He adds, “This partnership guarantees Myant access to the most conductive, high-quality computing yarn on the market, with a significant ability to scale production alongside Myant’s growth.”

John Berlin, President of CarlisleIT, notes that “our agreement with Myant puts us at the leading edge of a quickly evolving industrial category – textile computing – with significant potential to immediately impact CarlisleIT’s existing client base with new innovations and processes. We expect this deal will be significant to CarlisleIT’s short and long-term success in textile computing applications.”

Together, Myant and CarlisleIT are at centre of a transformation of advanced manufacturing and the culture of “making” in North America. As part of this agreement, CarlisleIT becomes a partner in Myant’s Digital Textile Factory initiative that seeks to democratize access to textile computing knowledge and assets. The Digital Textile Factory will give entrepreneurs, innovators and established industry players access to a virtual factory for ideation, research & development, access to yarns and connectors, and design and manufacturing at scale. In so doing, this initiative will propagate and democratize advanced manufacturing techniques and access to the most advanced textile computing machinery in the world. The Digital Textile Factory will also help establish and export standards related to textile computing and its use as a platform across industries.
