Multi-Contact USA to Host Open House
Connector Technology and Facility Tour Among the Highlights
WINDSOR, CA, June 1, 2011 - Multi-Contact USA (MC-USA), a leading manufacturer of electrical connectors and contacts, is rapidly expanding its manufacturing capabilities in North America. Due to significant growth, the firm moved to a 42,000-square foot facility in Q1 of 2011. To celebrate this move and showcase its operations, MC-USA will host a public open house and ribbon cutting on July 20, from 1-4pm, which will include tours of the facility.
MC-USA's new location, at 100 Market Street in Windsor, is the U.S. headquarters for Basel, Switzerland-based Multi-Contact AG, a division of the Stäubli Group and a global leader in advanced electrical connectors and contact systems. The open house and facility tour will culminate in a visit to the second-floor observation area, where visitors can view MC4 connectors used on the 860 solar panels on the roof, which generate 209 kilowatts of energy.
MC-USA currently satisfies 70% of worldwide demand for solar connectors. "In the U.S., we are focusing on two important areas," said Ceebee Thompson, Executive Manager for MC-USA. "While we are very strong in solar, our forte is high power transmission products, which are not metric-driven in the States. We want to enhance our core industrial power line by converting specifications from metric to the U.S. standard system." She continued, "Second, we are making a concerted effort to produce inch power forks and crimp sleeves used in energy distribution channels for large power units, turbines and transformers."
Connectors Division Manager Ian Pratt was recently appointed to become the new head of MC-USA operations when Thompson retires in August.
