Mitsui Seiki Expands Manufacturing Facility in Japan

[FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ - AUGUST 2007] Mitsui Seiki USA, Inc. has announced the expansion of its machine tool manufacturing facility in Saitama, Japan where its parent company, Mitsui Seiki Kogyo, Ltd., is headquartered. The new building on the factory campus is more than 17,000 sq. ft. and will house all the functions necessary to produce its "Vertex" line of vertical machining centers and standard machines that do not require highly engineered content. Further, in June 2008, the company plans to expand even more with two additional bays totaling 50,000 sq. ft. According to Scott Walker, president of the U.S. subsidiary, manufacturing growth in Asia, the U.S., and Europe is spurring Mitsui Seiki's growth.

"The boom in commercial aviation projects in particular has fueled the demand for Mitsui's ultra-precise machines," said Walker. "The aerospace industry is manufacturing more parts from titanium, carbon fiber, and other composite materials which are ideal for our equipment. We have invested heavily in R&D in cutting these new materials over the last several years, and have compelling solutions that OEMs and top tier suppliers are purchasing."

Mitsui Seiki ships about 20 to 30 machines per month, and plans to increase that output to 45 to 55 machines per month after both of the expansion projects.
