Minnesota Veterans Home Creates Friendly and Safe Environment through Implementation of RTLS

Enterprise Real-Time Location System (RTLS) from Intelligent InSites Goes Live at the Adult Day Center at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis

Minneapolis, MN - Intelligent InSites, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise real-time location systems (RTLS) software helping healthcare providers improve patient and resident care, announced today that the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis, MN, has implemented Intelligent InSites' real-time location system (RTLS) solution to create a friendly and safe environment for the Adult Day Center program participants.

The Minnesota Veterans Home (MVH) in Minneapolis has recently opened the doors to the new Adult Day Center, which is only the second program of its kind in the country run by a State Veterans Home, and the first to be housed in a historic building. The main objective of the Adult Day Center is to keep Veterans in their homes for as long as possible, while providing much needed respite care for their caregivers. Eligible Veterans, spouses, widows, and Gold Star Parents enjoy a unique environment in which they can achieve or maintain physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being, while still being able to remain at home. The center provides a full range of customized services including health care, recreation, behavioral health, and nutrition, as well as additional services such as bathing and a barber shop.

"Our innovative program promotes person-centered care and offers support and relief to the families of our Veterans," said Craig Barness, Acting Director of the Adult Day Center at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis. "Through the use of our RTLS solution, they can rest assured that their love ones' needs are being met in a safe, enjoyable atmosphere."

The program participants can request assistance, no matter where they are in the facility, with a simple button press on their RTLS-enabled pendant. Their exact location is then delivered to staff members who can provide a timely response.

With the ability to define specific notification rules, the InSites solution will also proactively impact the safety of program participants. For example, if a person is in a certain location, such as bathroom, for too long, an automated notification can be sent to appropriate personnel who can assist the person in need. In addition, the notification can be automatically escalated to another team member if the initial recipient is not able to respond in a timely manner.

According to Chris Olson, Sales Manager at Momentum Healthware, the Intelligent InSites partner who provided and implemented the InSites solution at the Veterans Home in Minneapolis, "The InSites solution will help better serve the needs of Veterans who can go about their lives with an enhanced level of independence and dignity."

"We're proud to be working with the Minnesota Veterans Homes," said Dr. Ray Gruby, Chief Medical Officer at Intelligent InSites. "It is extremely rewarding for us to know that, through our solution and our partners, we can profoundly improve the quality of life of our Veterans and their families."
