Lubrizol Web Site, Free Online Course Promote CJ-4 Knowledge

CLEVELAND, OH, August 22, 2006 - With the licensing of the new API CJ-4 specification for heavy-duty diesel engine oil just around the corner, Lubrizol is offering a dedicated Web site and a free, online course to help people in the industry understand CJ-4 and its impact on them.

"As the North American market leader in heavy-duty diesel engine oil additives, Lubrizol has an obligation to share our expertise. Our goal is to help diesel equipment managers, lubricant sellers and others affected by CJ-4 become knowledgeable about its requirements and implications," said Matthew Joyce, North American Business Manager, Heavy-Duty Diesel Engine Oil Additives. "We are pleased to lead the way by providing these two helpful tools to the marketplace."

The Web site - www.cj-4.com - presents an overview of CJ-4, which represents a significant lubricant upgrade. CJ-4 supports new engine designs that meet the tougher 2007 environmental regulations. CJ-4 is also backward compatible, so it will meet the needs of older heavy-duty diesel engines as well.

The site explains the origins of the new standard, compares its more comprehensive requirements to those of earlier categories, cites the backward compatibility of CJ-4 lubricant products, highlights the varied and comprehensive testing demanded of those products, and provides answers to frequently asked questions as well as a place to ask additional questions. The site also links to a technical presentation by Dale Carroll, Lubrizol's Heavy-Duty Diesel Product Manager.

Lubrizol's www.cj-4.com Web site also includes a free, online course from its acclaimed Lubrizol K2M (Knowledge to Market) curriculum.

The CJ-4 Course and Reference Library offers 75 pages of training and reference material about changes to lubricants, exhaust aftertreatment devices, emissions requirements, fuel and vehicle design. The CJ-4 course simulates real-world business decisions. You learn about CJ-4 by helping a fleet manager work through the challenges of maintaining vehicles with new diesel engine emissions technology. CJ-4 reference materials are available within the course when you need them and are easily accessible for later review directly from the CJ-4 Web site.

"With more than 75 years of industry leadership, Lubrizol has a lot of knowledge to share, and this new online course is just one example of the broad range of learning services available through Lubrizol K2M at www.lubrizolk2m.net," said Holly Fitzgerald, Lubrizol K2M Business Development Manager. "Lubrizol K2M is widely regarded as the most innovative lube school in the industry. It allows lubrication professionals to quickly and conveniently tap Lubrizol's vast lubrication chemistry and field test experience to learn how to promote, sell and troubleshoot lubricants."

Lubrizol is providing these resources now to help the industry during the transition to CJ-4 over approximately the next six months. Lubrizol will continue to support customers' needs afterward through information on its customer extranet site, myLubrizol.com.
