Lincoln Electric Canada Sponsors New Discovery Channel Series Patent Bending

Toronto, Ontario - The Lincoln Electric Company of Canada has announced its sponsorship of the Discovery Channel's new program, Patent Bending, televised every Tuesday at 8:30 p.m., Canadian Eastern Time. As part of the sponsorship, Lincoln Electric Canada is supplying equipment, consumables, consulting services and troubleshooting assistance.

The show features the Patent Bending team scouring through books of patents from the past 100 years to find the seemingly greatest, strangest and/or most fantastically odd ideas that never got off the page - then figure out why.

Each episode identifies one idea and starts the process of bringing the invention to life. They build it, test it and then quickly figure out why it never worked. The Patent Bending team includes Russell Zeid, a science educator; Tom Stewart, a backyard inventor; and Rick Minke, a master builder and industrial engineer. Among the Lincoln equipment being used on set is the Power MIG® 350 welder, Pro-Cut® 55 plasma cutting system and Mobilflex 200-M(TM) fume extraction system.

Tune into episodes of patents explored and examined featuring bicycle lawnmowers, floating tents and uphill skis, just to name a few. For further details, visit the show's site at www.patentbending.com.

The Lincoln Electric Company, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, is the world leader in the design, development and manufacture of arc welding products, robotic arc-welding systems, plasma and oxy fuel cutting equipment and has a leading global position in the brazing and soldering alloys market.
