Leadis Technology Augments its CSTN Portfolio with Production Volume Shipments of the LDS181 65k Color STN Display Driver IC for Mobile Handset Main Displays

SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 18 / -- Leadis Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:LDIS), a leading mixed-signal semiconductor developer of color display driver ICs for small panel displays, today announced production volume shipments of a low-power single chip color STN LCD driver IC with integrated controller. The LDS181 supports 65k colors at resolutions of 101 (RGB) x 80, enabling rich color images for wireless handset main displays. By integrating functionality that typically requires discrete ICs for large panel displays, Leadis provides System-on-a-Chip (SoC) solutions that streamline system integration for small panel display manufacturers. By simplifying their component selection process and reducing compatibility tests required to assure seamless interaction of discrete ICs, customers can get products to market faster. The LDS181 also adds a third display resolution to the existing resolution options supported in Leadis' 65k color STN product line.

"We are pleased to continue to support our customers with 65k Color STN products such as the LDS181," said Kevin Plouse, Vice President of Marketing. "With industry experts forecasting that up to 80% of the next billion mobile phone customers will come from emerging markets, cost-effective technologies such as CSTN will continue to ship in large volumes to meet the burgeoning demand for competitively priced handsets. Leadis is committed to supporting the market with a broad portfolio of driver IC solutions spanning both mature and advanced display technologies."

About the LDS181
