Laser Design Inc. Signs on as Sponsor for Geomagic Users Convergence Conference

(MINNEAPOLIS, MN; February 14, 2008) - Laser Design Inc., the leading supplier of 3D laser scanners for over 20 years, will be a Silver Sponsor at industry partner Geomagic's annual "Convergence" conference scheduled for March 4-6, 2008 in Research Triangle Park, NC. "Attending Convergence is always an exciting opportunity to learn and exchange information about the 3D scanning industry," said C. Martin Schuster, President of Laser Design. "Our software partner, Geomagic provides valuable seminars about their advanced software products, plus we can meet-and-greet many of Laser Design's customers who work with Geomagic." Laser Design will have a booth in the Convergence exhibition hall.

Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Geomagic, Ping Fu, will deliver the keynote address at Convergence. She co-founded Geomagic and has led its growth from a start-up to be the worldwide leader in the digital shape sampling and processing (DSSP) industry. Before starting Geomagic, Ms. Fu was Director of Visualization at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, where she initiated and managed the NCSA Mosaic software project that led to Netscape and Internet Explorer. Ms. Fu holds graduate and post-graduate degrees in computer science and Chinese literature, and is an adjunct professor at Duke University. In 2005, Inc. magazine, named her Entrepreneur of the Year.

Conference attendees will include 3D-imaging users, technology, and the thought leaders behind the innovation. Convergence gives Geomagic users a unique opportunity to interact with other users, share best practices, and learn from the Geomagic technology experts. Conference sessions revolve around exciting application stories that showcase how users around the world are using Geomagic to impact their industries.

For more information about the Geomagic Convergence Conference and to register go to: geomagic.com/convergence2008/index.php?page=conv-welcome.htm . Laser Design representatives will be on-site in the exhibition hall to learn from Geomagic users, answer scanning questions, and explain how to make the most out of their systems and Geomagic software.

As a conference add-on, Geomagic will feature its recently released Geomagic Studio 10 in a special Convergence post-conference training program about "Studio 10 New Features" on Friday, 7 March. Studio 10 is the latest software version for creating accurate digital models obtained with Laser Design's 3D laser scanners from real-world objects. Software advances include an enhanced user-configurable GUI, a streamlined feature framework with more powerful tools, new extension editing capabilities, plus full support for Windows XP 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. Of note to Laser Design Surveyor WS-Series and DS-Series systems users is the new multi-sensor metrology support which combines the advantages of both 3D scanners and hard probes.

A major component of Geomagic Studio 10 is the new Geomagic Fashion module that enables the creation of optimized, CAD-ready surfaces from digitized objects. This new module is the perfect complement to Geomagic Shape, allowing users to automatically extract design intent and recreate original surface aesthetics that are often lost in the manufactured or scanned object.

Laser Design's current customers with Geomagic Studio maintenance contracts are entitled to this latest release of the standard Geomagic Studio software. Customers can upgrade their version of Geomagic Studio to include Geomagic Fashion through Laser Design at the promotional price. For Geomagic update information, contact sales@laserdesign.com.

Laser Design, Inc. has been the leading supplier of ultra-precise, 3D laser scanning systems and services for over 20 years. Used for capturing the 3D shape of objects with complex geometries and free-form surfaces, Laser Design's Surveyor line of automated and portable scanning systems are ideal for 3D scanning applications involving inspection and reverse engineering of complex shaped plastic and metal parts. The company's patented laser line-probe technology dramatically reduces scanning time by collecting data substantially faster and more accurately than conventional metrology technologies. Laser Design integrates Geomagic software with its laser scanners to provide complete solutions for reverse engineering and inspection applications.

Headquartered in Minneapolis, the company also has Regional Technical Services and Support Centers in Seattle and Detroit, and distributors throughout Europe, Asia, and Mexico. Laser Design also operates GKS Inspection Services (www.GKS.com), an in-house service bureau division offering complete 3D scanning, reverse engineering, and dimensional inspection services.
